We are your neighbors! Formed in 2016, the Piscataway Progressive Democratic Organization (PPDO) is an all-volunteer, grassroots community organization built and sustained by working families in our community. In the wake of Donald Trump's first election, residents from across our diverse and dynamic township came together to fight for democracy in our community and throughout our country.

We oppose the MAGA agenda and are working to ensure that our leaders do everything in their power to resist rising authoritarianism. Many of us were already engaged in efforts to strengthen our schools, and we transformed that loose coalition into the PPDO.

Our members have led and supported numerous initiatives that improve transparency in our local government, increase accountability among our leaders, and eliminate the nepotism and cronyism that plague our politics. We worked to end the "County Line," the corrupt ballot design that empowered party bosses instead of voters.

In addition to organizing and mobilizing around issues, our members are dedicated to transforming the Democratic Party and restoring its mission as a bulwark for working families. We overturned a 70-year-old ban on the number of women and LGBTQ individuals who can serve as party representatives, bringing new voices into the party.

We have fielded candidates in nearly every Democratic primary since 2017, from county committee members representing their neighborhoods to the Township Council—where we elected two new members last year—to the mayor, the legislature, and the governor’s race.

PPDO is proud to be a local Indivisible affiliate and to have led numerous No Kings and related events opposing Trump’s plans. We will continue to organize neighbors and candidates who share our values and our commitment to preserving and expanding democracy, ending the corruption tax on our communities, and ensuring that Piscataway remains a safe, affordable place for everyone to live, work, and thrive.
